Sex is Good for your Heart....

When it comes to matters of the heart, sex can be a huge benefit!

Studies suggest that sex and pleasure are an integral part of overall health and wellness.... including heart heath! While sex does not necessarily prevent heart disease, the benefits of sex have been shown to correlate with helping reduce the risk. Here's how:

  • Sex lowers the risk of heart attack. According to a study that examined the sexual activity of men and women, research found that participants who had sex at least twice a week had a lower risk of heart attack than those who had sex once a month or less.

  • Sex is a form of cardio. Sex is a form of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise, which helps strengthen the heart and lower blood pressure. Please note that sex should not replace the recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week!

  • Sex reduces stress. Sex increases the release of endorphins, which reduces stress and improves overall mood, resulting in better cardiovascular health.

  • Sex improves intimacy. Sex improves intimacy and bonding, which lowers feelings of depression and anxiety, which are risk factors of cardiovascular disease.

  • Sex improves sleep. Poor sleep is linked to high blood pressure and higher risk of heart disease. Thus, sex helps improve sleep because it relaxes the body.
