5 Self-Care Habits for Sexual Wellness

Self-care includes taking care of ALL of yourself- this includes physical, mental, and emotional health! Be intentional about giving yourself the attention you deserve by prioritizing pleasure for overall health and wellbeing.


1. EXPLORE YOUR BODY THROUGH SELF-PLEASURE ACTIVITIES

Self-pleasure can be anything that makes your body feel good. Take time to explore your own body and find new erogenous zones with different types of touch, texture, pressure, and sensations. This may or may not include masturbation; however, masturbation can be a healthy way to explore your sexuality and reduce stress, which promotes overall well-being.


2. ENGAGE IN PHYSICAL FORMS OF INTIMACY OUTSIDE OF SEX

Your body craves physical outside of sex! Take some time to connect with you body through movement. This includes dance, yoga, exercise, pilates, etc. Engaging in physical activity at least 30 minutes a day help to increase strength, flexibility, endurance, and stamina to help you become your best physical self both inside and outside of the bedroom which improves overall health.


3. SCHEDULE TIME TO CONNECT WITH YOUR BODY

Your body craves physical touch outside of sex! Schedule time to connect with your body by pampering yourself. This can include exfoliation, face mask, body scrub, massage, and a bubble bath. Focus on giving your body the attention it deserves so that you feel more confident about your body. Body confidence is a major factor that contributes to sexual wellbeing.


4. ALLOW YOUR BODY TO REST PROPERLY

Getting adequate sleep is essential for overall health, including sexual wellness. Lack of sleep can lead to fatigue, decreased sex drive, and other negative effects on sexual function. Try to aim for at least 7 hours of sleep each night.


5. AFFIRM YOURSELF REGULARLY

Positive self-talk can go a long way! Affirmations help you to feel more confident and comfortable with your body, desires, and sexuality. This can help promote a positive mindset which increases your self-confidence and mood which promote overall well-being. Spend some time in the mirror regularly speaking pleasure-affirming phrases about yourself.
